An informal conversation around what strategies we have to build a toolkit for the future, towards an (art) world free from harassment, exploitation and underrepresentation.

Please bring refreshments to share.

The group is open to all women of cis/trans experience and non-binary folk. Attendees can participate to whatever degree they feel comfortable. Meetings are held under a mutual agreement of confidentiality, respect, and healthy practice.

Meeting #3, May 14 at 6.30pm

The meeting will focus on strengthening in numbers and diversity, aiming to provide strategy for solidarity, support, and partnerships with existing movements and organisations. If you have experience or knowledge in this area and would like to help lead a section of this meeting, please write to info@not-surprised-london.org

Meeting #2, April 9 at 6.30pm
ICA London

Based on feedback, this meeting will focus on establishing a code of conduct for the visual arts industry in the UK. The plan is to develop an overarching statement and then break into working groups to focus on various sectors – public and private institutions, commercial galleries, freelance curators and writers, students, artists and artist assistants.

Resources (like existing codes of conduct) are being gathered and will be shared ahead of the meeting. We are aiming to invite a specialist(s) to provide guidance. If you have information to share or suggestions for facilitators, please write to info@not-surprised-london.org

Meeting #1, March 8 at 6.30 pm

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Not Surprised London is hosting our first public meeting to discuss issues regarding systemic abuses of power in the visual arts sector as well as strategies of support.

The meeting will be held at Insitute of Contemporary Arts on 8 March at 6.30pm and is open to women, trans, and gender non conforming persons.
