Not Surprised is an open group that meets to form strategies of support for each other and the wider visual arts community against systemic abuses of power. The group has been developed for women, trans, and gender non conforming persons but can expand to facilitate mixed gender meetings as needed and able.
Since the first open letter published in October 2017, which focused more specifically on instances of sexual harassment, Not Surprised is seeking to address social justice more broadly. The meetings provide the opportunity to discuss issues and voice concerns.
Meetings are held under a mutual agreement of confidentiality, respect, and healthy practice. If there is a topic, issue, or question you would like to have discussed at the next meeting please write to firstname.lastname@example.org
You can read the original letter, see the list of signatories, and a definition of sexual harassment on the main We Are Not Surprised page.
